Bean Dinner Volunteer Form

Bean Dinner Volunteer Form

About the event

International Workers Day and May Day are celebrated in Cumberland on May 1 with an old-fashioned community bean supper featuring a tasty plate of working-class food: biscuits, baked beans and slaw. The Cumberland Museum & Archives is reviving the annual May 1st traditional Bean Dinner in collaboration with the Cumberland Community Schools Society, aligning with the essence of International Workers Day. Our partnership with the school will include the participation of some of our local students, who will help to prepare the meal and share their knowledge of local Cumberland lore and history, emphasizing the significance of workers' contributions to the community. Proceeds raised from this event will support barrier-free programming at the Cumberland Museum & Archives and contribute to the food program at the Cumberland Community Schools Society, reinforcing the commitment to supporting the well-being of workers and their families in our community. Without our generous volunteers, this event would not be possible, so thank you for offering your time and skills to help us with Miners Memorial 2023.
