Walk the pathways that were once bustling with music, business and culture! Explore the site of Cumberland’s Historic Chinatown as you imagine the sights, sounds and smells that filled the air 100 years ago. Hear the stories of Chinese Canadian families in Cumberland and carry on their Legacy of community building and resilience.
Meet at Wong Gong (Jumbo’s) Cabin. Travel west on Dunsmuir until you come to a 4 way stop. Turn left onto Sutton Rd, which turns into Comox Lake Rd. Continue half a KM and you will see a pull off/ parking area on the left. There is also a larger parking area at Coal Creek Historic site, which is marked with signage. If you park here you will find the cabin just a few steps away, pictured below.
