Current Collections Project
The Cumberland Museum & Archives is currently undertaking a collections RE-ORG Project. The RE-ORG method was developed by the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to help museums provide the best care for their collections.
Collections Mandate
The Cumberland Museum & Archives acquire items through donation, loan, or purchase that are relevant to the interpretation of the history of the Village of Cumberland and the Regional District of Comox Valley. The collections mandate focuses on the following themes:

- The regional history of coal mining
- The local history of logging
- The regional history of labour organizers and unions
- The local history of various cultural groups—with a particular focus on Chinese and Japanese populations
- The local history of politics, business, and trade
- The history of Cumberland residents, with a focus on items that were used in daily life.
