Giving month — a time when communities across the country shift from shopping to supporting the charities that matter most. It’s a celebration of generosity and a chance to invest in organizations that help shape our shared future.
In 2025, we proudly celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Cumberland Museum & Archives. It was a vibrant year—from the community-supported Bean Dinner, to a powerful Miners Memorial Weekend, to record numbers of students exploring our exhibitions. Our walking tours thrived, and Winterfaire once again brought the community together to support local makers.
Everything we do shares the story of Cumberland’s people—from coal miners and labour movements to immigrant histories and local legends, we honour the voices that built Cumberland.
This year, we also strengthened connections across the Comox Valley through partnerships with the Cumberland Community Schools Society, Comox Valley Immigrant Welcome Centre, Cumberland Community Forest Society, the National Film Board, Woodstove Festival, and many Winterfaire vendors.
Why Your Support Matters
More than 90% of our funding comes from grants and fundraising, which keeps us resilient, but also means we rely on you. Your donation helps:

- Offer low-cost school programs
- Create new exhibitions and community storytelling projects
- Host walking tours, public events, and engaging programs
- Preserve and celebrate Cumberland’s history
We invite you to support the museum that protects and shares our community’s history. A donation of any amount you’re able to will truly make a difference. You will receive a tax receipt for the full amount through CanadaHelps.
